Goal Planning Monday

Here is this week's Goal Planning Monday post from Real Life: Unscripted . Last week I linked up with my goals. Here is how I did with a new list of goals.

Last week's goals:

1. Write in my Journible every day. (Yes, I did this!)

2. Review my Bible verses that I am memorizing each day. (Yes, I did this!)

3. Exercise 4 or 5 days this week. (Yes!  I did more than this!)

4. Spend 15 minutes each day decluttering either my closet or junk drawer. (Yes, junk drawer is done!)

5. Update my FlyLady control journal and routines. (Worked on this.  More to do.)

6. Gather everything I need to do the taxes (ugh and do I have to??) (ummmm NO)

7. Blog posts...especially upcoming reviews. (Worked on my blog but had no internet from Friday evening to Monday so not as much as I'd hoped.)

8. Read out loud to the kids. (Yes)

9. Go to bed earlier. (Didn't do too great on this one.)

10. Waste less time on this computer! (When you have no power for 25 hours and no internet for 3 days it was pretty easy.)

Goals for this week:

1. Write in my Journible every day and review my scripture memory verses each day.

2. Exercise at least 5 days this week.

3. Spend 15 minutes decluttering my closet each day.

4. Start the taxes.

5. Read out loud to the kids.

6. Finish 3 reviews and post by the weekend.

7. Work on my Flylady Zones 2 & 3.

Stick with it Saturday

Posting this a few days late due to Blizzard Nemo.

This week my BFF brought over some of her workout videos so I was able to change it up a bit.  It's so good to be back exercising again.

Workouts for the week:

Sunday: worked out on the Wii for about 30 minutes ( I did some strength training, stepping, ski jump, ski slalom, boxing, running and hula hoop.)

Monday: AM: Obstacles XRT-intermediate level-this is a 28 minute HIIT workout 35 sec work/25 sec resting

PM: Biggest Loser Cardio Max week one workout

Tuesday:  Jillian Michaels Kickbox Fast Fix upper body workout and 30 Day Shred

Wednesday30 Day Shred

Thursday30 Day Shred

Friday: 30 Day Shred and Jillian Michaels Kickbox Fast Fix lower body

Today: Shoveling....lots of shoveling :)

I already feel as though my body is changing in just this short time of doing these workouts (30 Day Shred especially).  I am in a wedding in June and I really want my arms toned up.  I am enjoying my workouts.  I'm looking forward to seeing how my body changes and hoping to get back to running soon too. I would also like to try adding some kettlebell workouts to my week.

I am very much considering moving on from Weight Watchers....I am paid up until early March but I have to decide this week since they charge you for the next month in the middle of the month.  If I do decide to leave I will blog about all the whys.  (One of the biggest reasons is money, but there are others.)

Goals for the upcoming week: Stick to my Weight Watchers plan and exercise 4-5 times next week.

YUCK! Poison! or How to Make Kale Chips

For the last several weeks I have been enjoying snacking on Kale chips and planning to write a blog post about how to make them.  Tonight I made myself some.  Some of the kids were trying them and my son, Connor who is 11 and has Down syndrome decided to give them a try.  He put one in his mouth and promptly spit it out and said, "Yuck! Poison!"  I have been laughing myself silly about this.  I didn't even know he knew the word poison and it is just so funny to think of him doing this.  (I was in the other room and missed it...Erin, my 18 year old relayed the story.)

Let me just say that I don't think they are yucky, nor do they taste like poison.  So for those of you who are brave, this is what you do.

Buy some Kale (either whole or chopped in a bag).  If it's whole you'll want to tear it up and remove the big stems.  Place them on a baking sheet (they'll shrink a lot so feel free to pile them up a bit).  I use a Silpat.

I usually spray them with some cooking spray but you can pour a little EVOO over them and use your hands to coat all the leaves.

Next you'll want to season your kale.  I like to use salt, garam masala and smoked paprika. (use what YOU like)

I bake them in a preheated 275 oven for 25-35 minutes stirring occasionally (they are done when they are crunchy)

See how much they shrink

so crunchy
Let me know if you give them a try.

Creamy Vegetable Soup

When I joined Weight Watchers, I received a booklet with a 0 points plus vegetable soup.  Recently I started making it "my own". I call it Creamy Vegetable soup.  You can make this "your own" by using veggies you like.

Chop a small onion and 2 carrots, saute in a non-stick pan.  Add 1/2 a head of chopped cabbage and a clove or two of garlic.   After the carrots and onions start to soften, add a carton of chicken broth, a large can of crushed tomatoes, a small can of diced tomatoes, about a cup of frozen spinach (or fresh if you have it).  I sometimes add some kale too.  Then add a diced zucchini.  Season with 1 tsp. basil, 1/2 tsp. each oregano and salt...(or whatever you like)
Simmer for about 20 minutes covered.

Now my favorite part. I put some soup in a Magic Bullet with 1 wedge of Light Laughing Cow cheese.  I like to use Queso Fresco and Chipotle. YUM! (You could just use regular cream cheese or nothing at all if you prefer.)

I usually add more soup to the puree so I have chunks of veggies in my creamy soup.  I count this as 1 point plus.

The puree is kind of green but it IS yummy.

Of course you can just eat the soup as is, no need to puree.  This soup carried me through the entire summer and now through the winter because it's low (or 0) points and filling.

100 Bible Verses in 2013-Week 6

This is week 6 of learning 100 Bible Verses in 2013 using Robert Morgan's book 100 Bible Verses Everyone Should Know by Heart which I am doing along with a Facebook group started by Shanna at Learning at His Feet.

100 Bible Verses in 2013

The first verse of the week is quite long.  I hope I can manage to memorize it.  It's not one that I know yet.

This second verse is a good one for everyone to know.  I do already know this one though I have to learn the reference too. Sometimes I have verses memorized, but I don't know the reference.

Each week I've been sharing Scripture Memory resources.  This week I started using Scripture Typer which you can do online or get an app for an iphone. It is $5.99 on iTunes. So much fun. ( I haven't tried the app yet so I can't vouch for that.)
